"beyond-the-classroom" philosophical approach

I believe that everyone has the capacity to be creative and that creativity is a distinct human quality.  Unfortunately, we may not have been supported the ways we need, or maybe we're just in a rut.  Creativity is something that needs to be nurtured and supported in daily routines and habits.  When we are children, we crave connection through all of our senses to understand our world.  Oftentimes, as we grow older and bare more responsibilities, we forget how to lead with curiosity, be in the moment, and create for the sake of creating.

My goal is to bring creativity to those who seek it, develop technical skills where interested, and expose students to a variety of experiences to stretch our creative minds while supporting positive mental health habits through mindfulness and gratitude.

My teaching provides an accessible entry point to creating through low-risk exploration and play. Once we learn more about materials and the ways they work, we can engage with historical and contemporary inspiration to engage in creating meaningful connections with long-lasting art-making habits.
